Triund Hill trek
Starting from Dharamkot village Mcleodganj, It’s a most popular trek, easy to moderate, 5 Km one way. The only tricky spot is the final ascent of 22 curves; once you complete it, the view is worth achieving. The altitude is about 2750 m MSL. You can view the indrahar pass, moon peak Rifle horn, Arthur’s Seat, and other mighty peaks on the mountain range. The panoramic view of the entire Kangra valley, covered with clouds, makes every minute of this Trek worthwhile. It is a perfect weekend gateway for those who want to refresh their lives off the noisy, polluting cities. You can choose to camp on the Triund hill after trekking. There are some restrictions on the Triund Trek; you can start early morning and return in the evening. The Trek begins from Dharamkot Village in Mcleodganj. Dharamkot Village is accessible by road, and after the village, you have to proceed on foot.
Kangra Fort
Kangra is about 18 Km from Dharamshala. Kangra fort was built in the 4th Century BC and was a residence of the Katoch Dynasty. The Fort was constructed on a cliff and, once closed, was a very safe fort in historical times. The Fort was formally known as Nagarkot Fort in historical times. The Fort was ruled by Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Gurkhas too. After the 1846 Sikh War, the British had control over the Fort. The biggest earthquake of 1905 hit the Kangra valley when the Kangra Fort was damaged. Still today, you will get to see the ruins in this valley. The ruining Fort speaks of the fascinating glorious battles in history and is worth visiting. Do plan to visit religious places like Brajeshwari Devi temple and Kheerganga in Kangra. Walk along the local market in the evenings to shop and buy souvenirs.
Palampur
Palampur is an upcoming destination for travelers about 30 km from Dharamshala. This is a quaint and blissful place with many tea gardens. You can Plan a visit to see the tea gardens or to Andretta to see the Shobha Singh Art gallery. There is an excellent collection of his Kangra Paintings. The weather is pleasant throughout the year. Adventure places like Saurabh Van Vihaar and neugal Khad are simply incredible.
Bir Billing
Bir Billing is quite famous for Paragliding sport about 60 Km from Dharamshala. The village had an International event in 2015, and since then, the popularity of the sports has made this village quite famous in India. The town has boomed since then, and many hotels, adventure campsites, and cafes have been established here. The city has a glimpse of Tibetan Culture and has many monasteries to see around. The dense Himalayan Oak forests and Deodar trees make it very serene. You can try adventure activities like paragliding, Sky cycling, Zip-lining, and Bungee Jumping here.
Khajjiar
Khajjiar is about 80 Km from Dharamshala by road. Known as the Switzerland of India, the beauty of this place is simply majestic. It’s an ideal place to retreat and heal your soul. The appearance of the site is mighty enough to engage you all day. There are many adventure options around the locality, Zorbing, trekking, Kalatop wildlife sanctuary, Handicraft center and handicraft shopping, paragliding, and horse riding that can be great fun with dear ones.
Dalhousie town is just adjacent to Khajjiar and is an excellent place worth visiting. You can witness the influence of the colonial era in the city, like churches and other attractions worth visiting. The Chamera Hydel Project reservoir is just a few km away, where u can try boating.
Chamba
Chamba is a beautiful place characterized by its unique culture. The culture has been visible in traditional attire, folk songs, and food. The whole district is inside a valley, and the Chamba town is on the bank of the Ravi River. Its festivals like Minjar Mela are one of the big festivals in Himachal Pradesh. Chamba is admired for its serene views around the valley. Many attractions are worth visiting, like the Chamera Hydel Project dam, where you can do some boating and visit Bhuri Singh Museum. Registration formalities are compulsory for visitors to Mani Mahesh Lake from July to August
