Triund Trek Details

Triund is a beautiful mountain ridge portraying astonishing views of the snow-clad Dhauladhar Mountains in Dharamshala Himachal Pradesh. The trek is an easy and stunning trek for people passionate about trekking and hiking in the mountains. The Ideal time for this trek is Mar to June and Sep to Dec.

Embark on the Journey for this trek, where you can see the lush green deodar forests en route.

Peaks like indrahar pass, moon peak Rifle horn, Arthur’s seat, and panoramic view of the entire Kangra valley.

Dharamshala Airport is about 25 km away. Taxis are available at the airport itself. Flights from Delhi are available daily. Volvo bus service from Chandigarh to Dharamshala and Delhi to Dharamshala is available. Volvo, private bus operators, and HRTC bus service are also public from other stations like Pathankot, Kullu Manali, and Shimla. Pathankot broad-gauge Railway station is about 90 km from Dharamshala, and Nangal Railway station is about 140 km. Kangra narrow gauge railway station is about 18 km away from Dharamshala.

The Trek base point is Gallu Devi temple Dharamkot where you can fill in your water bottles. Carry at least 2 liters of water with you before you start for the trek. You can refill water near the natural stream before 1 km off Triund trek. Water is scarce at ridge top and u can to return back to stream for water refilling. Do not throw plastic bottles as this can pile up plastic water on the natural landscape. Carry Light backpack, wear good quality hiking shoes and wear comfortable clothing. If you are trekking in winters, do carry warm clothing with you as Triund weather can turn really nasty cold in hours. Alcohol is not allowed on the trek. Do not carry on the trek

The Trek base point is Gallu Devi temple where your backpack and ID will be checked by the forest officer before starting the trek. Ensure you cross this point before 2 pm, after that you are not allowed to go on the trek from this forest checkpoint.

You can either rent a tent on the top or stay at the forest guesthouse pre-booked directly from HP Tourism website. You can also carry your own tent and pitch it. It is advisable to do the Process per-planned with Tour Operator for your comfortable stay overnight at Triund

There are some cafes enroute the trek. Tea and snacks are available in these cafes. It’s better to carry some food in your tiffin box for emergency. Carrying dry fruits, energy bars or any biscuits is always wise.

Always go with a local guide or an organizer as the trek is tricky in between some stretches and experience will be your saviour here. Delek Hospital (0189 222 2053) founded by the members of the Tibetian community is in Mcleodganj. Closest Police station is Mcleodganj police station.

Ensure you are trekking with the responsibility of keeping things clean in the mountains and do not throw any waste in the mountains. Bring back any waste with you to the cities. Personnel with health problems should avoid adventure activities.

Wear Suitable comfortable Clothing for treks. Full length trousers and good quality grip hiking shoes are recommended. A backpack is also suitable to carry camera or water bottle during trek. Safety Equipment, Sticks and guide shall be provided at Hill Ventures. Any person with High BP, Heart Disease, Fractures or any ill Health Condition should avoid trek and should disclose his health condition to the guide.

Triund Trek is sometimes restricted by Government Guidelines, We do also have Thatharna Trek similar to Triund Trek. The Itinerary remains same for Thatharna Trek of Triund Camping.

Nestled in the lap of the Dhauladhar Range, Triund is a serene and mesmerizing trekking destination. One of the easiest and beautiful treks in Himachal Pradesh, Triund is located about ten kilometers away from McLeodganj—a prime tourist attraction of the state.

Triund trek is an approximately 9 km trek and can be easily done in 4-6 hours which makes it possible to do it within a single day but the best part is to watch the sunset, stay overnight in a camp and then enjoy the sunrise the next day. So, it is advised to at least keep 2 days for the trek
