The location implies a somewhat levelled area along with the beautiful Eku river. You can walk over the wooden bridge located in the same place while crossing the river directly to the mighty Dhauladhar Matter Horn mountain base.

Ulud Trek

Ulud is a perfect place for trekking near Dharamshala, offering an adventurous experience amidst natural beauty. The trek features a fairly leveled path alongside the beautiful Eku River. You can cross the wooden bridge over the river, leading directly to the mighty Dhauladhar Matter Horn mountain base.

Start Point

The nearest point to the trek is Salig Village, about 15 km from Dharamshala. Taxis are easily available from Dharamshala, Bir, Palampur, and other main centers. A cab ride from Dharamshala to Salig Village takes about 40 minutes.

Delhi to Dharamshala by Bus

The best way to reach Dharamshala from Delhi is by taking an overnight bus to Mcleodganj. Buses from Majnu ka Tila or ISBT Kashmiri Gate depart in the late evening, around 6 pm, and reach Mcleodganj in 10 to 11 hours.

Delhi to Dharamshala by Air

There are about three flights daily from Delhi to Kangra Airport, usually in the morning. Taxis are available outside Kangra Airport to take you directly to Dharamshala or Kareri Village. If arriving late, you can book a hotel in Dharamshala for an overnight stay.

Things to Carry

Bring a light backpack, quality hiking shoes, and comfortable clothing. In winter, carry warm clothing as the weather can get very cold. Alcohol is not allowed on the trek. Avoid throwing plastic bottles to keep the environment clean.

Permits and Safety

The tour organizer will handle the safety permits. Always trek with a local guide or organizer due to tricky stretches. Start early to get a head start and consider returning to a village if needed.

Staying Options

You can rent a tent at Ulud or bring your own. Pre-plan with a tour operator for a comfortable overnight stay.

Food

There are no cafes along the trek. Carry adequate food, dry fruits, energy bars, and biscuits for emergencies.
